HOW DO DIGITAL LOCKS WORK?
The need for privacy and protection is definitely nothing new. In the past, heavy barricades were set to keep trespassers at bay, and probably you have seen one or two of those heavy iron locks in medieval movies. Well, we’re not in the past anymore, but we still need to protect our assets.
Lucky for us, digital locks are much lighter than the good old barricades.
Who uses Digital Locks?
More people than you actually think! You might be so used to be surrounded by technology that you probably haven’t even noticed them. Hotels, Banks, and Offices Buildings are only a few of the places where these kinds of locks are used.
So how does it work?
Keypad Locks are advanced electronic systems programmed to only grant access to authorized people. A Digital Lock works with numeric pins, magnetic bands, fingerprints or patterns. Once the correct combination is entered, the mechanism is released and the lock will open.
Here are some of the most popular models of Digital Locks:
Keypads
This is perhaps the most common one to find. They are used in security doors and restricted areas. They only grant access after the programmed numeric PIN is entered. They also have a key slot for further security.
RFID LOCKS
Radio frequency identification locks work with cards or badges.RFID Locks do not work with a combination code; access is granted by matching the assigned card to the lock.
KEYPAD LOCKS
They also work with a numeric PIN, but they differentiate from regular keypads because of the SOLA mechanism. The lever turns to allow or deny the access. It allows different 4 digit codes for multiple users.
RFID CAMLOCK
The lever mechanism locks and unlocks by presenting a valid card or badge.
iButton
It only allows access to one assigned key. It opens at the touch of the programmed key. This lock needs no pinching or turning.
As you can see, there is a digital lock for every need. And it doesn’t have to be an overwhelming gadget. Find the one that suits you best and let the modern day locks protect your belongings. Please make sure to go to our comment section below and let us know what you think.
