A useful locker or cabinet lock quote starts with the door, the existing hardware and the intended workflow. Record the door thickness, mounting preparation, locking mechanism and available clearance, then have the proposed configuration checked against its installation drawing. A matching front-panel size does not establish compatibility.
The checklist below is a suggested information-gathering process for facilities and purchasing teams. It is not a drilling template or installation approval.
Describe what the lock will secure
State whether the project involves lockers, cabinet doors, drawers or furniture pedestals. Include the approximate quantity and explain whether it is a new installation, a replacement or a mixed project. Record the furniture or locker manufacturer when known and note any different door types within the same order.
If replacing existing hardware, use the Digilock generation identification checklist first. Older Numeris and NextLock products should not be matched to current models by name alone.
Collect measurements and photographs
- Door or drawer-front thickness, including any layers relevant to the mounting location.
- Existing holes, cutouts and mounting centers, recorded with units and a clear photograph.
- Clear space around the proposed front unit, including adjacent doors and handles.
- Rear clearance for the lock, cam or bolt movement, battery access and any connector.
- Frame or strike position and the existing mechanism’s engagement when closed.
- Door opening direction and the required orientation of the lock or handle.
Photograph both sides with the door open where authorized and safe. A ruler in the photograph is useful context, but provide written measurements too. If there are multiple door preparations, identify each group separately instead of treating one sample as representative of everything.
Match the mechanism and mounting arrangement
Cam locks, deadbolts and deadlatches engage storage differently. A cabinet with a rotating cam may need different hardware from a locker with a separate rear bolt unit. The mechanism comparison guide explains the purchasing distinction.
For a Versa Standard cabinet project, identify the mount, cam type, cylinder arrangement and handle clearance. For an Aspire project, confirm the exact generation and rear-unit configuration. Manufacturer installation drawings, not a generic product photograph, should determine the final fit review.
Include access and management requirements
Explain whether users need temporary shared storage or assigned access. Identify keypad or RFID preferences, existing credentials, accessibility requirements and who will manage the installation. Ask the quote reviewer to confirm which components and management equipment are included or separately required. Do not assume a lock-only quantity describes the whole project.

Can I order from the dimensions of my old lock?
Those dimensions help, but also document the mounting preparation, rear mechanism and door clearances. Different locks can look similar while requiring different installation details.

No. Wait for the selected configuration’s installation drawing and an appropriate fit review. This checklist is for collecting information, not authorizing alterations.
What if my facility has several locker styles?
Group the doors by construction and hardware, then provide measurements and photographs for each group. Label quantities clearly so the proposal can address each configuration.
Does a smaller front unit guarantee an easier retrofit?
No. Rear clearance, cam engagement, cylinder length and mounting preparation can matter as much as the visible footprint. Compare the complete assembly.
